Denny's Wants to Kill You As Much As KFC

If you thought KFC's Double Down was bad, just wait until you get your hands on the new Fried Cheese Melt from Denny's. The heart-stopping monstrosity combines 4 fried mozzarella sticks and a grilled cheese sandwich. At only $4 with a  an included side of fries, it's a lot more filling for the price tag than the Double Down. I have to admit, while I found the Double Down to be seriously nasty looking, I am a sucker for cheese, so this actually looks pretty good to me.

Would you eat it?

I'd probably try it if someone else had one, but I wouldn't get it myself.

That said, I can see this being a lot more successful than the double down, especially outside of novelty value.

Much of the government supplied health and nutrition info is proving to be wrong on a scale that runs from useless to dangerous. So, eat what you want. As to this Fried Cheese Melt, I WANT.

I found that the double down had so much salt in it that it actually *hurt* to eat. And, of course it caused an insatiable desire for water for the rest of the day.

that's not so bad, I'd eat it...it's nothing compared to Friendly's new melt, where instead of a sandwich in between 2 slices of bread, it's in between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches

If the mozzarella sticks weren't breaded and fried first, and the cheese in the sandwich was something - anything - other than American cheese - sure, I'd eat it.

At first I thought this might be a grilled cheese with chicken nuggets swimming in all that melty cheese instead of fried cheese sticks. If that was the case I might try it...

I'd try it, although I was a bit disappointed to see that it had mozzarella cheese sticks on it and not the chicken strips I thought they were before I read the description.

I'd eat it in a hot second. Add bacon and I'd have TWO. I'll pass on the fries, those are just empty carbs. But lots of wonderful yummy protein and fats? Me want. Serve it to me with a large club soda. The sugar in soda is the REAL poison, and that's what'll give you that heart attack. The fat in the cheese? Won't hurt you a bit. Heck, fry it up in some nice, saturated coconut oil for me.

Hey guys, here's a surprise, Double Downs are healthier than hamburgers, having less calories and less fat. Hell, I'm on a (successful so far) diet, and that is what I eat for dinner whenever I get fast food. It's delicious, and mostly high quality protein, certainly no worse than eating chicken cordon bleu.

@ ak4mc - my later experiment with it after the bacon was to turn it into a Monte Carlo type grilled cheese sandwich. At that point though, it was no longer a grilled cheese. A sandwich can only be called a grilled cheese if it is made of bread, and cheese. So when I added the bacon it was something else.

@John Kussmann
People eating these kinds of sandwiches really are not caring about their sodium or fat intake.
