If Only For A Second

(YouTube link)

Cancer patients talk about how, once they received their diagnosis, they could never just forget their illness for a moment. One patient put it simply in when she said, "You know what I miss the most? Being carefree."

The Mimi Foundation invited twenty cancer patients to enjoy a makeover. They only stipulated that they keep their eyes shut until it was done. Then they gave them the most outlandish wigs and makeup you can imagine and filmed their reactions. It was in that moment that they forgot all about cancer and reveled in the moment. Photographs from the event were published in a book so that the participants can always remember that time they were truly carefree. -via Viral Viral Videos

The initial seconds were ones of horror, not carefreeness. My guess is that the later snippets where they are laughing were filmed after they'd been let in on the joke. Cruel, not heartwarming. I'm glad no one did that to me when I lost my hair to chemo.

Somehow I do not think that volunteering for a makeover and being made to look ridiculous thrilled everyone. I only counted five (or so) out of the twenty in the video.

The world can be such a beautiful place with beautiful moments like these; I don't understand why people would allow themselves to live with hate and fear.

Thank you for sharing this.
