Construction Worker Trapped by Houston Fire

Nail-biting time: an apartment building under construction is burning, and a construction worker is trapped on a fourth-floor ledge outside a window, while the flames get closer and closer.

The Houston Fire Department battled the blaze for several hours yesterday. All the construction workers are safe and accounted for. The $50 million, 396-unit apartment complex, which was to be called the Axis Apartments, is a total loss. Here’s a look at the fire from further away.

The fire is believed to have started on the roof, and spread rapidly due to high winds. Read more about the fire at the Houston Chronicle. -via reddit

There was actually a news clip on the apartment complex the day before since it was being built just feet away from a cemetery. AND there was another big fire around the same time at a church just north of where this blaze happened.
