Hide Your Conditioner Like A Pro -Literally

Central air conditioning is pretty much amazing -but the compressor units are one of the biggest eyesores on the backside of your house. That's why, over at Homes and Hues, we compiled two new solutions to hide those ugly units while still providing them with enough air flow to keep them running at maximum capacity.

While these are both professional designs, the top one looks easy enough for a particularly handy person to replicate, while the lower design could be great inspiration for a professional back yard redesign.

If you have a heat pump turn it off before you go out to mow the grass. If it's left on it will suck up a lot of the grass thrown out by the lawn mower. It then stays on the sides of the heat pump and blocks a lot of needed airflow.

Ughh, that first one is a truly horrible idea. AC compressors require good airflow both from the sides and in the headspace above them. The first one restricts airflow from the sides and there is likely only a foot or so above. You want at least twice that and probably more for modern high efficiency units. Basically they're hiding and eyesore and paying for it with higher utility bills or a shorter life for their AC unit.
