In Romania’s Valcea County, there are boulders called trovants that grow. Really. They also multiply, by sprouting bulbs that form into rocks. It sounds like a tall tale or urban legend, but science confirms it. There’s a perfectly logical but rather complicated explanation, involving the nearby sand quarry, the mineral-rich rain of the area, and other factors that make the location unique.
