You’ve probably heard of New Zealand. You may have watched Xena: Warrior Princess, which is set there. But, like Xena, New Zealand is just pretend. It’s not real, which is why it commonly doesn’t appear on maps.
World Maps Without New Zealand is a Tumblr blog devoted to maps that show all of the nations and large islands around the world . . . except New Zealand. For some reason artists and, occasionally, actual mapmakers, leave it off.

And we know that New Zealand still exists in the Star Trek universe because it's mentioned in the pilot of Voyager and in at least one episode of Deep Space Nine.

It got dropped from one of the Star Trek movies as well. Obviously appeared long enough to be the background of a swag of other movies though!!

Perhaps New Zealand is like Brigadoon, only appearing periodically. At the time certain maps were made, New Zealand was not on this Earth.
